Ivory Coast has the potential to produce a very wide variety of plant species. The essential oils project is based on three main components. The first component is an essential oils production unit with a capacity of 2,000 to 4,000 tons of fresh produce. The second component is a 100 ha pilot plantation that will provide part of the raw products for the processing unit. The pilot plantation will also be used for capacity building of partner farmers (demonstration plots), a nursery and an agronomic trial center. Finally, the third component consists of forming a productive alliance with local farmers, allowing them to benefit from technical assistance and purchase contracts with guaranteed prices and volumes. The project will generate many local benefits, including jobs creation, increased income for farmers and the development of a local value chain.
